OCTOBER 2025
Well, it's been quite a transition for us, leaving the NT and Marksie retiring from Camp oven Cooking and Entertaining, but you can't keep a good man down. He promised you all he would write his yarns, so here it is... Publisher has book in print and enroute to our hot hands...so get yours hot off the press - literally. Needless to say, 22 years of stories do not fit in one book, so wait...there will be more!
And also, as promised - Marksie's Camp Oven Cookbooks are also under way, but won't get off the press till next year. These will have some good tips for camp Oven care and management. Very important.

We have also been in touch with the wonderful Native bush herbs and spices shop The Wild Hibiscus Flower Company Pty Ltd who supplied a lot of the native bush herbs and spices we used. You can buy sample size or bulk from them. See our direct links.
OCTOBER 2022

Well thats it, the fires have been put out for the very last time at Marksie's Stockman's Camp Tucker Night. That was 22 yrs in Katherine, and thousands have come to enjoy the good food and yarns that only Marksie can do. Many new friends made and sad goodbyes to some very good old friends.
Marksie's health has demanded the change, so he very sadly had to Retire.
Penny and Geoff have headed off to make their home in Portland VIC, to be nearer family and no doubt a darn sight cooler life.!
But wait...he has plans to keep you all laughing, and well fed with his Yarn books and cook books.

MAY 2022
As you will have seen on posts, Marksie became very unwell (no not Covid!)...told him he needed to retire! So we sadly had to close in May, and be strict with just 3 days a week until the 1st October and he will then hang up his hat and pack up the camp ovens for last time.
He will retire and hopefully sell his business, hopefully to someone local to continue in Katherine. It is a portable business, so could set up anywhere. I even had to do his show - told the history of Stock camps, Marksie's bush tucker introduction story, and a session on the many uses of Bush tucker. So you see, tell your own stories.
Thank you all for your patience.

APRIL 2021
Welcome to 2021 and the new COVID-NORM. We have limited spaces and bookings have gone made this year especially during school and public holidays, so you will need to book in advance.
We had some amazing help for the NT Tourism Grants to enhance our site for you and now have artificial grass to keep the dust down, better lighting to keep you safe, and a few extras - some saddles for kids to play on and built a Vestey Hut replica on side of our container.
OCTOBER 2020,
It is a sad goodbye to our Staff, Silvana who has been with us for 3 seasons, Isla who has been with us 2, and Mella. Thanks girls , You did us proud. Thanks to all the locals for supporting us this uncertain year. Hope its a better one next year...see you in April.
We will be looking for staff, please send us an email. See you in 2021.
NOVEMBER 2019
I am excited to announce we did fantastic at the 2019 NT Tourism Awards. We made the Finals in the Tourism Restaurant and Catering ( yep a bush Restaurant!) but we won a Department of Trade, Business and Innovation Business Growth Award. An amazing night for Katherine with 8 awards. Well done to Tom Curtain- Katherine Outback Experience, and Nitmiluk Tours. See you from April 2020.
June 2019

30th May 2018...
We have just have the lovely Justine Schofield "Everyday Gourmet" on Channel 10 come to film a cook with Marksie...on telly in October. Fantastic day , and I take my hat off...( that's not often) to the film crew and Justine. It takes hours to get a short snip of film to put on telly. Even managed to impress the Everyday gourmet with our 16th camp Oven Pavlova. By the way we are still no 1 in the TOP END thanks to all our amazing guests. We now have an Excellence Badge for 2018. Wahoo.

We had a group of Indonesia Cattlemen for our very first 1918 Stockman's Dinner in early May. Fantastic night though must say the stories were a mission with need of Interpreter. We did a special menu with explanations for each guest, translated into Indonesian to take away. An amazing night and lots of fun.
